...i haven't had a chance to BLOG as i've been Speaking at a Festival in Naramata this past few days! It was a GREAT weekend...about 300 wonderful and happy, growing, people!
...people loved hearing about the bicycle trip and really liked the KINDNESS bracelets.
...it really touched me to run into Ted and Phyllis Slinger in Kelowna....they are such incredible supporters of the bicycle trip and the message of kindness... they have been following the BLOG every day since i left!
...after travelling for nearly 8 months pretty well accident-free, although there have been huge challenges as you've probably read, i had my closest call 5 minutes after i left Ted and Phyllis! A man ran a red light and fortunatley i was watching him as i went through the intersection and i started braking and screaming at the top of my lungs....he never did look until the last second when i was just coming to a stop in front of him...he swerved at the last second and JUST missed me by an inch or two....very scarey! The people on the sidewalk all saw what happened and couldn't believe he kept on driving!
...the next morning i Spoke at my 3rd school in Kelowna which was way up a steep, long, climb, but it was WELL worth it ....the last two schools were awesome and i really felt i reached the children! After i Spoke i had to be in Naramata about 70 miles away...i always feel a little guilty taking rides, but i needed to in oreder to get to Naramata on time, but i rode the last part of the day and got there just on time!
...it was interesting that in 2000 i rode EVERY single mile of the 18,000 Km...this trip is about biking, but the main thing is to Speak at schools and other groups and reaching people's hearts so we can spread KINDNESS...to see the ripple effect and the support has been so inspiring!
...i stay in Penticton for a couple of days and i have one school to Speak at, then 4 very long rides home...i may need to take a couple short rides to be able to cover that in 4 days!....again, the 70 lb trailer is the challenge!
i hope to see EVERYONE at the Homecoming on Sunday!
...my friends Bruce and Jan Johnson in Penticton have made me feel sooooo welcome...they are the greatest!
